Nation's high court weighs in decisively on cellphone searches

When justices from the United States Supreme Court issue a ruling, many people throughout Missouri and elsewhere across the nation understandably pay attention, and that is certainly the case regarding a major court announcement from last week. We alluded to the ruling in our immediately preceding blog post (please see our entry dated June 25, 2014) and supply some material details in today’s post.

Missouri woman may need criminal defense against drug allegations

In Missouri, a felony drug possession charge can carry severe criminal penalties if the accused individual is convicted. DUI charges are also taken very seriously. A single-car accident that occurred this past August led to the recent arrest of a 26-year-old woman. She may need to prepare a criminal defense against felony and misdemeanor charges related to drugs, DUI and driving with a revoked license.

Juveniles with life sentences are in a confusing position

Many Jefferson City residents may not be aware that last year, the Supreme Court of the United States decided that people under the age of 18 could not face life sentences for crimes they commit. The Supreme Court deemed such punishment "cruel and unusual," and thus, life sentences for people under 18 are unconstitutional.
